Dr. Lucas Kohnke
ENG3435 Integrating Information Technology in the ESL/EFL Classroom
As part of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), ENG3435 Integrating Emerging Technologies in the EFL/ESL Classroom integrated a six-module virtual exchange experience in Semester 1 of the 2025–26 academic year. This COIL activity was designed to provide students with hands-on experience in using artificial intelligence (AI) for English language teaching while fostering cross-cultural collaboration with pre-service teachers from Brazil, Chile, Türkiye, and Japan. Hosted on the Canvas LMS, the exchange featured pre-recorded video inputs, individual and group tasks, and optional synchronous meetings via platforms such as WhatsApp, WeChat, Google Meet, and Zoom. The materials below serve as an exemplar of how COIL can be implemented at course level to enrich undergraduate learning experiences through sustained, multi-institutional virtual collaboration.
